Toronto’s First Automated Public Toilet


Toronto’s first automated public toilet was unveiled and opened for public use on May 19, 2010 and is located at the northwest corner of Rees Street and Queens Quay. Equipped with heating and air conditioning, the toilet carries a price tag of about $400000 and is only steps from some of the city’s top tourist attractions like the CN Tower and the Rogers Centre. As soon as the patron steps out of the lavatory, motion detectors kick-start the cleaning process.
