You cannot necessarily consider eliminating the process of logging into your user account a “tweak”, but it certainly does save on time. In reality, what we are doing is eliminating an unnecessary step for most users. No matter what way one looks at it, eliminating the need to select a user and enter their password (or not password at all) eliminates a large chunk of time from the Windows 7 startup process. Not to mention, for those of you who are the only users of your computers, eliminates a rather frustratingly useless step. Automatically Login To a Windows 7 User Account On Startup 1. Select the ‘Start’ button. 2. In the search bar, type ‘netplwiz’. 3. Right click on the ‘netplwiz’ program and click ‘Run as Administrator’. 4. Once it comes up, uncheck the box that says “Users must enter a username and password to use this computer”. 5. Select ‘Apply’. 6. When prompted, enter your username and password, if you have no password, leave the password blank. 7. Select ‘Ok’. 8. If necessary, select ‘Apply’ again. 9. Select ‘Ok’. 10. Restart your computer. 11. That’s it! Now it goes without saying that automagically logging into your computer does decrease your system’s security.
